Students in Julie Visser's Family Consumer Science class at Start High School focused on nutrition by studying MyPlate and nutrients found in the foods and drinks we consume.

Each student was provided with ingredients such as French bread, pasta sauce, cheese, and other options. Their task was to add at least one vegetable or fruit topping for each meat topping selected.

Some chose pineapple, observing the caramelization of sugars when it's baked in the oven. The most popular veggie toppings: banana and jalepeno peppers.
