TPS To Start 2020-2021 School Year In Red Light Status

TPS To Start 2020-2021 School Year In Red Light Status
Posted on 08/13/2020

The Toledo Public Schools Board of Education approved a recommendation from Dr. Romules Durant, CEO/Superintendent, to start the 2020-2021 school year completely online.

Known as the Red Light status, the all virtual environment will start on Tuesday, September 8, when all elementary and high school students will start classes. Please note: This is a later start date than announced earlier this year. Kindergarten students will start transitioning to learning the week of September 8 and their first full day of virtual learning will be Monday, September 14.

When it is deemed safe to do so, Toledo Public Schools will move to a Yellow Light status, which will be a hybrid of in-person and remote learning. The district's students will be divided into A and B groups, with the A Group attending in-person classes on Monday and Thursday and the B Group attending in-person classes on Tuesday and Friday. Each Wednesday, all students will be learning remotely so schools can undergo a deep cleaning.

Thank you for patience as the district navigates these unprecedented times.
