The “Moon Tree” has landed at Marshall STEMM Academy in Toledo!

The school has received a tree seedling from NASA’s Artemis Moon Tree project, a sweetgum
tree which has grown from a seed that orbited the moon during the agency’s Artemis I mission
in 2022.

Since the flight, the “Moon Tree” has been nurtured at a U.S. Forestry Service nursery.
This is part of NASA’s effort to spark student interest in science, technology, engineering and
math.

TPS School Board member Sheena Barnes joined school staff members to plant the tree next
to the school building.

The school will host a dedication ceremony when students return in the fall.
