Administrators for Toledo Public Schools have released the first phase of their plans for the 2020-2021 school year.

The major announcement made on July 10 was that all students will be on an AB schedule when classes resume after having been closed in March to slow the spread of the coronavirus. That essentially means that half of the students will be in class on Mondays and Thursdays and the other half will be in school on Tuesdays and Fridays. There will be no students in school buildings on Wednesday so they can be deeply cleaned.

Also, representatives from the Lucas County and the Wood County health departments have worked with local superintendents, including TPS CEO/Superintendent Dr. Romules Durant, to establish general safety guidelines for school districts to follow as they prepare for the opening of the 2020-21 school year. Here are the agreed upon guidelines that will be incorporated into each district's final plan: Safe Return to School Compact
