The two newest Board of Education members were sworn in during an organizational meeting on January 5.

Stephanie Eichenberg and Perry Lefevre won their seats in the November election.

Mrs. Eichenberg, a graduate of Bowsher High School and now a mother with children at Beverly Elementary School, has a history of volunteering with the district and was most recently president of its Parent Congress. In that role, she increased participation of parents from a handful of schools to more than 20. A graduate of Northwestern University, Mrs. Eichenberg has a career in market research.

Mr. Lefevre is a social studies teacher at Northview High School in the Sylvania school system -- he was named Educator of the Year in 2009 -- but lives in the neighborhood near Arlington Elementary in the TPS district. ome. His now-adult children were educated at TPS schools; son, Matthew, is now a middle school math and science teacher with TPS. Mr. Lefevre is a former union president in the Sylvania district.

Also during the January 5 meeting, Bob Vasquez was unimously elected to serve again as president of the board and Chris Varwig was chosen to serve a second one-year term as the board's vice president.
