Toledo Public Schools is extremely fortunate to have an army of dedicated volunteers that help our schools run smoothly.
One such volunteer is Mitchell Sweeney, who has grandchildren at Sherman Elementary and who has helped out at the school on a daily basis for the past 18 months.
Mr. Sweeney shows up every morning and afternoon for bus duty, making sure students are dropped off and picked up in a safe manner.
As Jim Gault, executive transformational leader of curriculum and the Start and Woodward learning communites, says, "Neither rain, cold, sleet or snow prevents Mr. Sweeney from taking his job seriously. His extra eyes and ears ensure the students at Sherman Elementary have a friend looking out for them as they move safely to and from school."
We are TPS Proud of Mr. Sweeney and of all of the dedicated grandparents, mothers, fathers, retired educators and others who give of their time so freely to help our children.
