The staff and students of Toledo Public Schools have been encouraged to wear pink on Friday, September 25, in support of the Susan G. Komen Foundation and its ongoing commitment to breast cancer research.

Different schools are doing different things to raise awareness and funds for the foundation. Old Orchard Elementary, for example, is allowing students to pay $1 to wear jeans and pink tops. All money collected will be donated to the foundation in support of Sunday’s Race for the Cure. Chase STEMM Academy has created a wall to remember those who have or are battling the disease and East Broadway Elementary spent the entire week raising money - and awareness - of cancer research.

And then on Sunday, September 27, a number of staff members, administrators and loved ones associated with TPS (including the tireless Dr. Durant) will be participating in the annual Race for the Cure, designed to raise funds for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. It’s just another way for employees to bond as part of the TPS Proud Nation.
