Safe Routes to School (SRTS) is an international movement to create safe, convenient and fun opportunities for children to engage in active transportation, such as walking and bicycling to and from schools.

In the Greater Toledo area, Live Well Greater Toledo is focusing on Safe Routes to School as a way to provide more physical activity for students and to increase neighborhood safety. Staff members from Live Well Greater Toledo have developed a School Travel Plan, which is a written document that outlines a school district's intentions for making travel to and from school more safe and sustainable. A Walking and Bicycling map for each of the 40 elementary schools in Toledo Public Schools has been created and can now be found under each school on www.tps.org
