Students at Chase STEM Academy were the top winners in the 12th annual Blade School Stock Contest that ended recently.

The ten boys and girls on the team called ChaseSS (the SS stands for 'Super Science') grew their mythical portfolio of $40,000 by 31 percent to finish with $52,378. The students won a total of $250 for themselves and another $250 for the school.

Teacher Luke McKinley, who teaches science to the fifth-through-eighth graders, was the advisor for the team.

“To see them get excited about it and to watch it and pay attention to it, it really was exciting,” Mr. McKinley told The Blade.
