A ceremony was recently held at Elmhurst Elementary to thank students, families and staff members for their efforts in making the school's Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart fundraising event a major success.
Eric Heinemann, the youth market director for the American Heart Association, came to personally thank everyone for donating $10,028 this year - the most money raised in his five-county region.
Judy Kolhoff, the physical education teacher at Elmhurst and the coordinator for the event, said students from K-8 participated in raising money by securing pledges for them to jump rope or play basketball.
"It was very heartwarming and I was extremely proud to turn our donations over to the American Heart Association. Every year, we have turned in thousands of dollars but never any amount close to $10,000. I know the local, regional and state AMA reps know us!" Ms. Kolhoff said.
Great job, everyone!
