Our curriculum is designed to accelerate students into college courses at the University of Toledo, beginning in freshman year. TECHS also offers a STEM program partnering with ProMedica and the University of Toledo with a primary focus on medicine and the health care professions.  Students take two years of English, up to three years of mathematics and science and two years of Social Studies at the high school level.   All other courses, including health and physical education, foreign languages and electives, are taken at the University of Toledo.

Students can earn up to 60 college credits during the four-year high school experience.  College-level courses and required textbooks are provided at no cost to students.  College courses qualify for dual credits, allowing them to be counted for high school and college credits.  Students will earn credits that will be recorded officially on TPS and UT transcripts.

Toledo Technology Academy is a college-accredited Tech Prep program that teaches students the high-tech skills they need to be successful in engineering and related technology fields. The core of the Engineering Technology curriculum is the nationally recognized Project Lead the Way pre-engineering curriculum, which prepares students with relevance and rigor.

Teams from the four-year program have won six championships at the SME National Robotic Challenge and two National Skills USA titles. Also, these teams have claimed four championships at Ohio Skills USA. Students achieve competencies in robotics, technical communications (blueprint reading, technical sketching, CAD); electro-mechanical devices (motors, motor controls, programmable controllers); electronics (analog and digital); fluid power (hydraulics and pneumatics); mechanical power transmission devices; programming; CNC machining, welding and fabrication. Instruction has an emphasis on problem solving, teamwork, time management and self-directed learning skills. Membership in Ohio Skills USA and participation in national engineering/design contests supplement the curriculum. Academic classes follow the same project-based concept and integrate across content areas as well as into the technical labs. Students take four years of each four content areas.

After completing the program, students are also ready to begin jobs related to designing, building, installing, repairing, maintaining and sales/marketing of automated machine systems. Upon successful completion of the program, each student receives a Career Portfolio to present to prospective employers and/or college admissions officers showcasing their skills and letters of recommendation.
